The 2027 Pro V1 is on tour. Here is what it means for your bag.

On October 4, Titleist said the next generation of its Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls has entered a “global validation phase” on the world’s tours, starting at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan. If you play a Pro V1, or you have ever stared at a wall of golf balls trying to decide, here is what that does and does not mean for you.

What “validation” means

Before a ball goes on sale, tour players use it in real competition. Titleist says testing of these new models began in March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, right here in Orlando, and has now widened to tours around the world over the coming months. Golfmagic reports that dozens of players switched to the new ball in its first week on the PGA Tour. These are the 15th generation of the Pro V1 and the 13th of the Pro V1x.

What we do not know yet

Titleist has not announced a release date, a price, or what has actually changed in the ball. Anything you read that claims to know is a guess. We will update this page when Titleist publishes the details.

What it means for you

How we plan to test it

When the new Pro V1 reaches shelves, we plan to buy it with our own money and play it against the current Pro V1 and a value ball, on the same holes in the same conditions. We will tell you what we saw, including if we could not tell the difference.
